Replacement For R404a And R50
ComStar's RS-50 (R442a) is Zero Ozone Depleting, non-flammable, non-toxic, and has demonstrated extreme energy saving in case after case. RS-50 is a high-efficiency drop-in replacement for R404a and R507 refrigerants. At 1888 Global Warming Potential (GWP), RS-50 is less than one-half of R404a and R507. RS-50 is compatible with all materials commonly used in refrigeration systems previously charged with R404a, R507a, and R22. RS-50 has higher Coefficient of Performance (COP) and capacity than R404a &R507 and R22. Its mass flow is equivalent to R22, yet considerably lower than R404a & R507. Refer directly to the manufacturer’s retrofit literature for more details regarding compatibility.
None of the components of RS-50 contains chlorine, ensuring that it has no ability to deplete the ozone layer. As with all hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), RS-50 does have a direct global warming potential (GWP), but it is one of the lowest HFC's available with a GWP just around 1800. Tests have shown that RS-50 has a higher COP than R404a & R507a in a range of applications including commercial refrigeration systems.
